FMX is a workflow management company with a focus on facilities management. We provide a full range of services to a wide range of businesses that enable them to manage their facilities better in terms of scheduling, maintenance, and asset management.

We work with schools, government, manufacturing, and healthcare organizations, but we do focus on some specific industries, like property management.

How has Clarus R+D helped your business?

I tend to approach tax service conversations skeptically in terms of ‘Can this really be true?’ and Clarus R+D did an excellent job of helping me understand the clear financial benefit. The first step was a pretty significant educational process in terms of explaining exactly what the current tax laws are and what’s required to take advantage of these incentives. I had heard about them but never really paid a lot of attention because it wasn’t at the top of my to-do list.

A frequent issue with early-stage, rapidly growing companies, is they’re focusing on sales, implementation, and customer success – they tend to neglect some of the back-office functions. I think the educational process Clarus R+D engaged us in was very valuable.

How do you plan to use the R&D tax credit?

I view the R&D tax credit as cash in the business – a cash balance item. This can be a substantial tax credit for businesses and it’s definitely worth the effort required to go after it.

What would you say to companies that haven’t claimed the R&D credit?

I encourage any entrepreneur or company with significant dev expenses to pursue the R&D tax credit. The ROI compared to the amount of time spent is worth it.

The people we met were very professional. Monika, our dedicated accountant throughout the process, did a great job of answering my questions as I was a little skeptical in the beginning.
